A modern kitchen with client’s adjective requests of: earthy, minimal, and warm. My goal was to bring the outdoors in, as their 1940s home sits on a wooded, 2 acre lot that is the real star of the property. By using a green hue of zellige tiles, with high variance, that adds warms and two picture windows with black trim, the landscape is brought inward. It is a bold choice on paper but actually quite subtle once installed.
Reclaimed beams and posts from Ohio barns add coziness and that touch of boho they wanted.
The kitchen footprint was reimagined from a formal living room that was home to a gas fireplace and a dining room turned kids playroom (naturally). Who wouldn’t want to sit by the fire on these cozy, green velvet chairs while dinner cooks in the oven?!
